Admire is this meteorite’s official name. Discovered near Admire in the Lyon County of Kansas, USA, this unique meteorite was first plowed up in 1881.
Admire is a rare type of meteorite called a pallasite. A pallasite is a special type of meteorite, it is both metal and stone, often the stone part contains peridot or olivine. These are extremely rare and are sought after by collectors. Not all Admire meteorites contain olivine, but all are rare and very collectible.
An unusual feature of the Admire meteorite is the swirling presence of the iron meteorite with very small olivine crystals forming between them. This appearance is specific to Admire meteorites and has not been seen in any other pallasite specimen. It is classified as a stony iron meteorite.
