Selenite is an alternate name for the mineral gypsum.  The word Selenite comes from the Greek “selenites”, meaning “moon stone” or “moon rock”.  Selenite is a natural insulator and will appear much warmer to the touch than other crystals. It is a very soft stone, and may come in several different crystal formations. Included are selenites called desert roses, these are flower resembling selenites that have tiny blade-like crystals, sometimes coming in browns, greens, beige, grey, or white. Fibrous selenite, also called satin spar, has a chatoyant flash to it, it may be found in crystal formations several meters long. This satin spar selenite is sometimes made into unusual decorator pieces. Clear selenite crystals may occur in smaller sizes.

Selenite is used to make drywall, concrete, and plaster of Paris and also in the production of tofu as well as the production of mead and home brew. It is also used as an ingredient in Chinese medicine and more recently in foot creams, shampoos, and other hair products.

Historically, eggs have been collected throughout history. Among the European aristocracy it became fashionable to give away as Easter presents artistically crafted luxury eggs. This tradition started in the 16th century and has continued through to today. In Russia, the fashion of artistically crafted eggs attained highest perfection in the creations of the goldsmith Faberge, appointed by the Russian Royal Court, with his famous "Imperial Easter eggs" for the Czar's family. The collector's passion for eggs from different material, from undecorated gemstone eggs to large egg creations, has lasted until the present day, and there are still many egg collectors and admirers in the various cultures of our world.

The egg symbolizes fertility. The egg shape symbolizes the first step that we must complete in order to achieve the realization of our goals and dreams. It also symbolizes things that have no beginning and no end.
In meditation, one should hold the egg in your hand. Many believe they have a have a special, comforting feeling.
Collectors sometimes collect individual eggs, and sometimes collect large egg collections in “nests” or baskets.
